ABOUT THE POSITION
Do you have a special passion for helping the pediatric patient population in a team oriented stimulating environment?
Look no more, we have an opening for you as our newest Occupational Therapist in our multi-disciplinary OT, PT, and SLP team, where we service children and young adults from age 0 to 21.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with pediatric clients from birth to age 21. You should be team oriented, and with good communication skills.
You should be able to perform transfers with clients 8-100+ pounds, get on/off the floor, walk, stand, sit for extended times, etc.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Evaluate incoming patient conditions to determine appropriate occupational therapy treatment programs, and consult with referring Physicians regarding diagnosis.
- Develop a plan of care specific to the needs of each patient and their family.
- Make referrals to appropriate in-house or outside sources as necessary based on initial or subsequent occupational therapy evaluations and patient current condition.
- Treats patients in accordance with the established plan of care to habilitate or rehabilitate function and performance with all fine motor/ADL skills.
- Prepare clinical daily treatment notes, progress notes, evaluations, reassessments, plan of care, and discharge summaries, along with other documentation for clinical records in accordance with guidelines set by the company.
- Facilitate family/caregiver involvement in the occupational therapy plan of care as appropriate to enhance patient’s physical progress.
- Evaluate, request and train patient and family in the care and use of necessary orthotics and/or adaptive equipment.
- Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and in-service programs as established by administration.
- Communicate with referring Physicians, Occupational Therapy Assistants, and other members of the rehabilitation team regarding patient therapy and equipment for carryover/incorporation into other rehabilitation disciplines therapeutic sessions.
- Maintain current knowledge of Occupational Therapist & Occupational Therapy Assistant roles and continuing trends in the industry.
- Performing additional duties as requested by Administration
Mentorship Support within our Facility:
- Mentorship across disciplines from PT staff members on seating and positioning techniques, gross motor activities, and other strategies to assist OT clinicians with reaching therapy goals and carry over of PT goals
- Mentorship from OT staff members on sensory processing, fine motor, and other strategies to assist clinicians with managing behaviors and assist clients reach their goals.
- Mentorship from Director of Habilitation, PT/DPT who remains passionate about developing clinicians at all levels of their career, making a difference in the lives of our clientele, and providing a positive work environment for our clinicians.
- Mentorship across discipline from ST staff members on effective communication strategies to assist clients express their wants and needs in therapy sessions to assist in obtaining OT goals and carry over of ST goals.
